A recent study has found that upgrading the Coolum roundabout won’t bust congestion.
Since I was elected, I have been lobbying the State Government for funding to fix the Coolum roundabout. Finally, after two years, the Minister agreed to meet me on site, to see the congestion for himself.
After that meeting, a three month traffic review was done, and the results are now in. Unfortunately, there is no easy solution. Upgrading the roundabout will not fix the problem, and no-one wants to see taxpayers’ money wasted on a band-aid solution that doesn’t bust congestion. The local population has continued to grow, and our road infrastructure has not kept pace.
The Minister has said a full assessment of the council and state road network is needed, so I am calling on the Palaszczuk Labor Government to provide $2 million in the upcoming State Budget to progress this.
Join me in calling for this funding so we can upgrade our local traffic network and bust congestion in Coolum.
